All international students in Turkey are required to obtain a student residence permit during their period of study.
According to the new regulation by the Presidency of Migration Management, students must submit their residence permit application documents to the International Relations Office.
The deadline for submitting your documents to the International Relations Office is 7 days from the date you generate your application form on the official website of the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management (https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/). Each student must keep a copy of the application form after completing the application process. The International Relations Office will deliver the collected documents to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management on a weekly basis. To avoid any delays in your residence permit process, please ensure that your documents are complete and prepared according to the checklist provided.
After completing the residence application form, please prepare the following documents in full. It is not possible to apply for a residence permit without these documents.
The residence permit application process for international students begins after the completion of final registration. To access the list of required documents, click here.
As long as your Residence Permit is valid, you do not need to obtain visa to enter Turkey. For instance, when you go back to your country for the semester break, you can enter Turkey by showing your residence permit on your way back to the country.
Those with an expired residence permit period must extend their residence permits within no later than 15 days. Otherwise, legal actions will be taken.
Student residence permits are cancelled under the following circumstances:
-
Termination of enrollment
-
Taking a leave of absence
-
Arrest or conviction
Note: In the event of freezing registration (suspension of studies), the student's residence permit is not interrupted (not cancelled), and its validity continues as usual.
For the most up-to-date information regarding such situations, please contact our office or visit https://www.goc.gov.tr/ and check the mentioned website frequently.
